asgfhiughUIWGH BERNADETTE! As soon as I make the switch to paid lj (and thus have more icon space) I am going to steal like five of these.

Also, Hillary not AT LEAST getting the vp? EPIC FAIL.
(She deserved the democratic presidential nominee!!!)

Taking a few Hillary icons! The coloring is great! *hearts; :D

I think she or Evan Bayh should have received the VP slot. Hmph. I am not amused by these shenanigans.
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on August 24th, 2008 02:08 am (UTC)
Thanks!

One of them, for sure!

NOT Biden. *throws up at the mention of his name*

You're welcome :)

After Hillary dropped out, I was thinking "Evan Bayh is my final hope for sanity now". I have come to the conclusion that Election 2008 hates the Hillary Clinton and Evan Bayh supporters. 2012 is the year for one or both (Clinton/Bayh ticket = my dream ticket) of them. It HAS to be.

The election? Or the reporters and the robot that is howard dean & nancy pelosi? lol.

Hi there. Well, here I was, happily reading your wonderful DWP fics (comments to come on those), thinking that you are obviously quite talented, only to discover that your taste in women is far more spectacular than I could have imagined!

Hillary. Oh, my. To find another soul who clearly adores the woman as much as I do; who recognizes her brilliance, her integrity, and yes, her beauty. Well, that is a wonderous, wonderous thing.

The icons are lovely. Truly. But then, given the subject, how could they not be? Thank you for the icons and for reminding me (as I gaze at the Hillary banner that still hangs in my house and will remain there) what an amazing woman our Sec. of State really is.
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 01:31 am (UTC)
Thank you.
Lol. She's truly brilliant & fabulous and just perfect....
( :

Speaking of older women- have you not heard of the group mrs_robinsons?
It used to be called mrsrobinsonsanon until it got shut down by the owner and I restarted it under a similar name...
my point to this is all we do there is be younger girls who like older women. Hillary is greatly adored there, as is every other woman I love.
So- if you'd like to join you'd be more than welcome to!
I like sharing the Hillary love lol
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 01:45 am (UTC)
I hadn't heard of it. Alas, I fear that, to some at least, I fall more into the older woman category than the younger (although with Hillary and Meryl I'm okay *g*). I'm 40, so I probably have quite a few years on the rest of you. Thanks for the invite, though. I shall check it out.

If only for the Hillary-love. (I was one of her appointed committee members of the DNCC Platform Committee and shall follow her to the ends of the earth).

And thanks again for the icons. Mind if I friend you? You write wonderfully and I adore the icon-making.
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 01:47 am (UTC)
Go ahead! ( :

Aw....see, I only was able to volunteer locally- but I did see her when she came to Ft. Worth!
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 01:51 am (UTC)
Thanks *g*

And I was very fortunate to be asked to serve on the Platform Committee and get to go to Denver for the Convention, even if it did not end the way I wanted. Getting to see her speak in the Convention Hall was amazing and I did actually get a hug, so that made the whole trip worthwhile *bg*
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 01:52 am (UTC)
OMG...I think I would dissolve into a puddle upon being hugged by her.

really...fainting would be involved.

LOL
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 01:54 am (UTC)
Well, I told her that aside from my Mom that she is the most amazing woman I know, and she thought that deserved a hug. Lucky me. She really smelled marvelous...yes, I was pretty close to a puddle on the sidewalk. But so worth it *lol*
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 01:55 am (UTC)
Hahaha
omg...
and now I know that hillary smells good...
*dies*
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 02:02 am (UTC)
Smells really, really good. I thought about going to Macy's there in Denver and wandering the perfume dept. until I found it, but that seemed a little....I don't know....stalkerish. So I didn't. But I wanted to.
;)

So, on a completely different note, any chance that "What She Needs" will be joined by a new chapter anytime soon? I love it so far...
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 02:05 am (UTC)
Hahaha...I would want to as well.

I need to update....right now though I'm in the midst of writer's block with my West Wing fic.....but I think that chapter will be finished soon. Then I should be able to get right on the making of the new chapter ( :
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 02:12 am (UTC)
Cool. I think that I have devoured just about all the decent DWP fic there is out there, so I will look forward to your update.

I'm on about 22,000 words of my own DWP epic for Rachel's Epic Challenge at P&P, so hopefully that will be done by the 5th of April. I've been writing fanfic for years, Voyager, Criminal Minds, Law and Order, but have recently become obsessed with DWP. So, I thought I might join in. Seem like very nice people at the DWP comm.
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 02:15 am (UTC)
ooh...sounds fabulous. Can't wait to read yours!

They are really nice- and its a very active community, too- which is nice. It's great to wake up and have 4 new fics to read.

DWPh as been a fandom of mine for a little over a year now, I think. I started in Buffy (lol) when I was 8....then progressed to Harry Potter and Law & Order: SVU- since then I've written in a ton of things...
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 02:20 am (UTC)
It is nice that there are so many people writing. Nice variety of styles and ideas. And they do seem like generous people. Nice in a fandom.

I wrote SVU ages ago. I started with Voyager and moved on from there. Sadly, I fear that the number of years between when you were eight and I was eight are many...many. In fact, I'll bet you weren't even born when I was eight *lol*
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 02:25 am (UTC)
Yeah....*is only 17*
LOL
That's okay, though...you don't qualify as old in my book. Though----my book ranges to people in their 70s...
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 02:11 am (UTC)
Oh- also darling?
You know I have an icon journal cest_fabuleux in which there are more hillary icons.

Just thought I'd let you know ( :
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 02:17 am (UTC)
I did not know that, but now I do and I am pleased. Very pleased. Thanks for the head's up and the gorgeous icons. Meryl is almost as good as Hill. Almost. And Helen. Any Emma Thompson? I adore Emma...and Kristen Scott Thomas? Both gorgeous over 40 Brits with sexy accents.

Just a hint ;)
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 02:20 am (UTC)
I haven't done them yet...but I'm gonna set up a request post soon (tonight) so keep them in mind and get some pics ready!!! ( : ( :

Have you devoured the entire community yet lol?
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 02:25 am (UTC)
Lovely. I feel just like Miranda. I ask and you create. Works for me ;)

And yes, mostly. Well, I have devoured the archive and read everything I thought worth reading. I admit to a bit of snobbery when it comes to grammar and diction, but then, I teach English, so I can't be blamed for being a trifle tough in my assessments. As long as there isn't something misspelled or horrendously incorrect in the first few lines, I will read it. Well, some of it. Otherwise, I move on.
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 02:27 am (UTC)
I do the same thing- sometimes there's a really great story but I can't keep reading because of grammatical error.
A lot of it is the age of some of the posters- they're 14/15...so it's understandable. They'll come along and they've got really great ideas.

Have you seen much of my icon journal yet?
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 02:42 am (UTC)
Actually, I was just perusing it while we chat. It's amazing. Really. I am suitably impressed. I adore the West Wing quotes icons and will be pilfering some of those as well as some of the lovely Ms. Janney and others. And of course, I have borrowed some more of Hillary. You've made her even more gorgeous than she is, if possible. Thanks!!

And I had no idea that any of the writers were that young. I must admit surprise. I would think that DWP would not be as appealing to the younger writers...no offense at all intended, my dear. I teach high school, so I was not necessaruly referring to you in young. Well, you are, but you know what I mean *g*
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 02:49 am (UTC)
Yes, I do know.

We tend not to act our age. I believe I was debating the sociological impact of Olivia's potential lesbianism on SVU when I was 13.... we do stuff like that.
The reason we tend to like older women is not the "psychological idea" that most people have- which is that we have "mommy issues." We like them because we actually relate to them better intellectually than we do people near our age group.
I know I'm in high school now, and I find it hard to take lessons from anyone under the age of 30. One of my teachers is 23 and I find myself doing more eye-rolling in her class (at her antics & choice of words) than I do learning, which is not the case in classes with older teachers.
You're right, though, normal people our age wouldn't be writing things like that. It's strange, though, we all seem to have almost the EXACT same interests....(the younger members, I mean- as well as the girls on mrs_robinsons)
Maybe we're just weird...lol

Btw, I just posted the request post. So have fun with it! ( :
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 03:00 am (UTC)
I wasn't suggesting that you or any of the other younger writers were in any way abnormal. I don't think that you are. In fact, I envy you. When I was 17 or 18, coming to terms with being a lesbian and my own thing for older women (my first gf was 22 when I was 16) was a much more closeted, isolating thing than it seems to be today. I suppose I know that my students are intelligent beings who have interests beyond the classroom (if I can manage to make them interested in that *g*), so I suppose the idea of younger writers being as fascinated by DWP or anything else if perfectly logical.

And I do want you to know that "mother issues" was far from my mind. I try not to fall back on tired psychological crap that has little relevance to real life. Makes life easier. I am actually just a wee bit fascinated. I mean, truth be told, Meryl and Hillary are both old enough to be even "my" mother and I certainly wouldn't kick either of them out of bed, so why the hell would I judge anyone else's actions/motivations. Right?
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 03:04 am (UTC)
No...we're weird. That was my statement- not yours lol.

It's not abnormal- but we are weird. And proud of it.
We like that we're more mature than the average teenager. We don't want to be like them- they frighten us.
There's a reason I tend to only talk to gay men, older women, and younger women that like older women....

But exactly. Hillary...could be my grandmother. And she's not even the oldest.
When I first realized I liked older women they tended to be between 40-50, so I thought the people who liked 65+ were weird (I was 13 at this time) but then I got older and my tastes seemed to advance 10 years every year...the oldest in in their seventies.
Now I'm like- "Okay...so I became one of those people."
lol I barely even like anyone younger than 50 now!
fewthistle[info]fewthistle on March 25th, 2009 03:11 am (UTC)
Fascinating. Honestly. Perhaps we can discuss this some more at some point, but unfortunately, this 40 year old must go to bed because she has a class to teach at 8. So, I am off to bed, but I have enjoyed our conversation a great deal and I look forward to more, as well as your update to the story. And my Emma and Kristen icons *bg*.

I see you added me as a friend. Feel free to peruse my journal and read all my lovely rants about the election and some of my fic, should the whim strike you. I fail horribly at tagging, but all my fic is on my webpage, Endless Voyager, linked to the side, so if you feel the urge ;)

Take care and have a great night!!
jesi76082[info]jesi76082 on March 25th, 2009 03:13 am (UTC)
I totally will! ( :
Perhaps tomorrow we can AIM?

And don't foget to rattle off all the icons you want!
Good night!
